How to Study the Wisdom

The Wisdom is the Path of Love and Mind, harmoniously combined, by means of which we discover the Truth of our Being and of the world in which we live.

Unlike the studies pursued with the use of the intellectual mind which lead to complexity, the studies of the Wisdom lead to a tremendous simplicity. How can this be possible? It is possible because the Wisdom cannot be studied with the use of the intellectual mind. The Wisdom is entered upon with the use of the faculty of the Intuition.

The intellectual mind, a personality faculty, reveals things as the human nature sees them.

The Intuition, a Soul faculty, reveals things as the Source of All creates and sees them.

What is the Intuition?

The Intuition is the term used to describe the direct contact with the Mind of God (i.e., the Universal Mind). It is, therefore, a faculty which is entirely concerned with planetary and solar affairs; in other words, with the Divine Plan for the Earth and the Solar System.

The Intuition has nothing to do with the personal life of any individual. What people usually call “intuitions” are just the promptings coming from or through their feeling bodies, promptings which are free from the analyses of their minds. The fact that sometimes these feelings or promptings are elicited by their higher selves or by inner Guides does not make of them true Intuitions.

Let’s see other ways used to define the Intuition so that we can enlighten our Path on the development of this important faculty:

  • The Intuition is the Soul faculty whereby the Self recognizes Its own Essence in and under all forms, as well as independent from any form.
  • The Intuition is the synthetic and immediate grasp of Truth as this exists in the Archetypal World, in the World of Divine Ideas, Designs and Plans.
  • The Intuition is the sublimation of the intellect on the altar of Love.
  • The Intuition is the appreciation by the mind of some factor in Creation, of some Law of manifestation, or of some aspect of Truth, known by the Self, emanating from the World of Divine Ideas, and related to those energies which create all that is known and seen.
  • The Intuition is the “knowing faculty” of the intelligent and practical mystic who — having relegate the emotional and feeling nature to its own place — uses the mind as a focusing lens and looks out through it upon the World of Soul.
How can the Intuition be cultivated?

In the above definitions the keys to cultivating the Intuition are given. The Intuition is thus cultivated:

By freeing the mind from the tyranny of emotional upheavals and unrest:

This is what is described as the Discipline of Harmony:  a discipline aimed to achieve a calm and peaceful emotional, feeling nature that can allow the Love of the Soul to be perfectly expressed to the whole world in all kinds of circumstances. This is the state of consciousness described as “the Peace that passes understanding”.

Inner calm, peace and poise are achieved by intentionally desiring and cultivating “Love for all beings” in all kinds of circumstances and by establishing a rhythm in the daily life which includes times of quietness and silence everyday — during these periods of outer quietness we can seize the opportunity to cultivate inner peace and harmony with ourselves, with all beings and with the circumstances of our lives.

The greatest effect of this discipline is not to harmonize the life of the individual or to heal all kinds of relationships. No, the greatest effect of this discipline is to liberate the mind so that it can do its intended job: to grasp the nature of Divinity and then create according to it.

By cultivating the Discipline of Universality of mind and clear thinking:

A universal mind is an open mind free from all kinds of creeds, doctrines, philosophies and followings. In other words, a developed and cultivated mind that is beyond any and all kinds of attitudes, opinions and concepts which separate one human being from another and oneself from all other expressions of Life.

Only with an open and free mind can we penetrate into the Universal Mind and understand the Divine Design and the Plan of Evolution without distortion. Only with an unprejudiced mind will we have the intelligence, the wisdom and the experience to effectively cooperate with that Plan and with Those who serve it. The Discipline of Universality is, therefore, a discipline of broad mindedness.

The goal of Universality is not to be knowledgeable in the many fields of human understanding. It is to expand beyond our limited mortal conceptions and to put our mind en rapport with the Divine Mind. It is to think as the Divine Mind thinks. This is achieved by, first, becoming the detached observer of our life and circumstances and, then, by embracing the totality of the human experience and emphasizing only the connectedness and unity that exists among all beings and all things.

By adopting the habit of thinking with the heart or thinking with the eyes of Love:

This third step is the combination of becoming an embodiment of Love and a true Thinker, which are the results of practicing the Discipline of Harmony and the Discipline of Universality. This becoming is also described as the Discipline of Union.

This triune process aimed to unfold the faculty of the Intuition is the central requirement today, and it will be so during the centuries to come, for all aspirants to Initiation into the Fellowship of the Christ.

This triune process is so important that no human being today enter into the process of Initiation into the Light of the Christ without the conscious, self-initiated and effective practice of the mentioned disciplines. It is not that the aspirant to Initiation must be knowledgeable on many areas of the Wisdom. This is of no importance. The important element in this requirement is that the individual aspirant needs to be completely free from emotional domination and from any sense of separateness and must exhibit a clear attraction and an unimpeded openness to group life (as the Soul sees group life).

Besides the results regarding group consciousness in the life of the individual, the triune process for unfolding the faculty of the Intuition, literally, makes the mind of the individual radioactive. That is, the process produces a gradual dissipation of the boundaries of the mental body to the point that, progressively, the brain substance (in consequence, the waking awareness of the person) is placed in direct contact with the energy emanations of the Soul body, of the Higher Self and of the Universal Mind.

It is because of this energy changes that the Wisdom Teachings remind us:

“The Mysteries of Life are revealed, not by the reception of information anent them, but by the action of certain processes carried out within the energy body of the disciple of the Light. These processes enable the enlightened human being to know that which is hidden to the uninitiated.”
