The Soul

The Intelligent Essence of the human being is neither found within the physical body nor in the psyche, as this last term is commonly understood. This human Intelligent Essence is Spirit itself, a dynamic Spark of Divinity that during the human experience manifests as a Divine Thought whose form is shaped as a radiant, golden-white sun. This radiant sun of energy is the Soul at whose center the human Self dwells as a “Point of scintillating, living, electric Light with the power to say, I AM”.

The human Soul is an extension, in time and space, of the Universal Mind. It is made of a very powerful mental energy, highly magnetic and radiatory, that has two main characteristics:

  1. To attract energies of many kinds, and
  2. To give shape or form to these energies under the dictates of the thinking activities of the human Self at its center.

From the energy of the Soul the human Self — that Point of scintillating Light with the power to say “I AM” — builds the blueprint for the mental body, the sentient body and the physical body for every incarnation. And during incarnation, It also builds the blueprints for each and all “the children of Its imagination”; that is, Its thoughts and desires.

By being a fragment of the Universal Mind, the Soul is made of intelligent, sentient energy. This provides the human Self with a seat in time and space for the activities of consciousness, a seat where the imperishable “I AM” or Self dwells, and with a storehouse for the memory of lessons learned during the long cycle of incarnations in human forms.

Projections into the mental, astral and physical realms of this intelligent, sentient energy of the Soul form the blueprint or pattern for the Persona. This projected Soul energy in the mental, sentient and physical bodies is what makes them suitable for intelligent, conscious activities of many kinds. The mind can construct thought-forms, the sentient body can project and perceive feelings, and the physical body can act with intelligence because the “I AM” dwells in and moves the Soul energy in them.

The Human Soul

The Soul and its Place in the Total Human Constitution

From a psychological standpoint, the energy of the Soul allows the human Self to express itself in time and space through several faculties. These can be classified as potencies or powers and as psychological attributes.

The Soul Potencies that the human being is endowed with are:

  • The power to attract at will and know the Ideas and other contents of the Universal Mind.
  • The power to contact other human selves and the Intelligent Essences that constitute all other forms in the Solar System.
  • The power to attract and give shape to mental substance in order to create thought-forms.

The Soul Attributes that the human being possesses are:

  • Knowledge
  • Love
  • Sacrificial Will

In the following two pages of this section, these Soul Potencies and Attributes are described.
